LOT 103 WORK SHIRT IN MUD DYED BROWN
The Lot 103 Work Shirt is inspired by a work shirt from the 1910s discovered in Ohio. From the chin straps, pen-holder pockets, and wide front placket to the straight silhouette without a sloping shoulder, the design retains as many of the original details as possible. The body was made wider and the length was shortened to make it easier to wear.
The fabric is the result of research into a discovery in California – a jacquard shirt by Pioneer, a brand from Montgomery Ward in the 1930s. Using a slub yarn made primarily from U.S. cotton and woven on an old-style power loom, the fabric is finished with degreasing washer processing to achieve the oilless dry feel of an aged fabric. The brown mud dye is carefully dyed one by one using the traditional "mud dye" technique, a unique dyeing method from Amami Oshima Island. None of them looks the same, as all of them are one of a kind.
