A NOTE TO OUR CUSTOMERS
It almost doesn't need to be reiterated. We're all watching the news, practicing social distancing and worried about our personal and economic health. There's a lot going on in the world right now and a lot of people are suffering. It's almost beyond words.
During this time of upheaval we've reduced our social contact to an extreme degree, and I want to say, thank goodness for the internet! We're still here and I know that you're out there too and maybe a personal note can cut through this existential hiccup.
Many of our designers support skilled craftspeople whose skills are increasingly harder to come by. They may use handwoven fabric, natural plant based dyes, organic & ethically produced materials, local production, and nearly all have small teams. Their products tell the story of who they are and where they're from, the terroir of a garment, so to speak. We support designers who make clothes that are tactile, unique, comforting and instill confidence in the wearer. Our hat materials are produced by skilled weavers and felt makers all over the world. We design, block and make the hats in our small studio in Portland, Oregon.
All of this is to give you a clearer picture of who we are, what we do. Our clothes are meant to be worn over and over again, not to go out of style anytime soon. We urge you buy less but buy better when selecting your wardrobe. Wear the same pants three days per week. Mix it up by pairing vintage & new, cheap with expensive. Wear the same dress to 7 weddings. Invest in pieces that can become something like an heirloom and live in your closet and on your body for years to come.
From the very beginning I intended for the shop to be a welcoming space for everyone. Purchasing is not a prerequisite for browsing. However with our bricks and mortar now closed, we invite you to make an appointment if you're comfortable. Reach out with a note on instagram, and even make an online purchase if you're so inclined. All forms of outreach are encouraged and appreciated. Please let me know how I can help you! I'm here for you!
Stay happy and healthy dear customers,
