TRIPPER HAT IN WALNUT DYED PANAMA STRAW

Sale price$295

The over-dyed Tripper Hat is botanically dyed using black walnut hulls by Kristina Foley, . Black walnuts have been an ancient, natural source of rich brown/grey hues throughout North America. This alchemical dyeing process produces a deep, earthy color with subtle variations that reflect the artisan craftsmanship.

Kristina Foley is an artist based in the countryside near Portland, Oregon. Her artistic process uses natural fibers and botanical colors to explore a deeply personal sense of place and a commitment to sustainability.

An open weave style Panama straw, the Tripper Hat (as in day tripper) features a short downturned brim and a slightly pointed crown. Reminiscent of a bucket hat. The sweatband is sewn in using a high-quality cotton twill ribbon.

  • This is a made-to-order item.
  • Made of Toquilla straw, handwoven in Ecuador.
  • Hand blocked in Portland, Oregon.
