LOT 506 DOUBLE BREASTED CARDIGAN IN BROWN
This cardigan is inspired by an American sweater of the 1910s. A photo, presumably from the United States in the 1910s, features two men wearing newsboy caps and collarless double-breasted cardigans with two rows of buttons. While these details are typical features of French workwear, the photo itself was taken in the United States. We extracted as many visual details as possible, while redesigning finer specifications and the overall silhouette based on our interpretation as a brand.
This style introduces a newly developed knit pattern inspired by a cardigan worn by German farmers around the 1940s. The fabric is oriented vertically using what is traditionally the crosswise grain, so the knit edge forms the hem, one of its defining characteristics. The yarn blends silk noil and British wool and has a dry hand feel.
- 44% silk, 34% wool.
- Hand wash, line dry.
- Made in Japan.
