In the 1970s in Manhattan, Linda Rae Tepper and Steve M. Abrams started an antique shop called "The Ruby Slippers." They were captivated by the "ARNEL" and "FDR" models, flagship models of "Tart Opticl," which they carried as deadstock, and decided to commission "Tart Opticl" to manufacture them for them. Their enthusiasm was conveyed, and "Shady Character" was born through the manufacturing of "Tart Opticl." As a result, many "Shady Character" frames are inspired by "Tart Opticl" frames.

For most in-stock, full-priced items, you may return your purchase for an exchange or store credit if we receive the item back in the store within 7 days of delivery. A refund can be issued, but a 3.5% transaction fee and any shipping costs over the amount already paid will be deducted from the total.
