The Common Coat is Tender's first lined and faced revere jacket. Rather than aping a fully tailored garment, the manufacture remains true to the idea of understandable construction, with a single side seam joining the body and sleeve, like a shirt or work jacket. Common coats were in fact worn for work, a standard garment which would often move from Sunday best to weekday labour as it began to show its age.The front is fastened with two buttons, and large, simple patch pockets are sewn onto the fronts at hand height.
Herdwick Wool Packing Tweed is an attempt to recreate the look of standard British packing blankets, used by removal drivers to protect furniture, and at Tender Stores to wrap small accessories and ceramics.The original is a cheap, matted web of fabric made from pulped recycled fibers, and is generally grey with random dashes of colored yarn. Herdwick Wool Packing Tweed is woven in Wales from mixed natural shades of grey Herdwick breed wool, with occasional random cololred warp stripes, using old stock weaving yarn. The fabric is heavily milled to thicken it and add body to the surface.
Tender’s designer William Kroll puts a lot of care into their research, design, manufacture, and wear. Just as a gardener tends to a vegetable patch, or a shepherd is the tender to a flock of sheep, Tender has the hope that it's customers will live with their products, wearing them hard, but respecting their provenance and the stories they have to tell. The British-made clothes and accessories are manufactured in small factories, ateliers, and homes around the country, exploring new approaches to traditional weaving, making, tanning, and dyeing.

- 2: 47" chest, 45" bottom hem, 19" sleeve from underarm, 25.5" center back length.
- 3: 48" chest, 46" bottom hem, 19" sleeve from underarm, 26" center back length.
- 4: 49" chest, 47" bottom hem, 19.5" sleeve from underarm, 26.5" center back length.
- Ruby is 5'11" and her measurements are 35.5" bust, 29" waist and 41.5" hip. She's wearing the Common Coat in size 2.
- Vincent is 6'1" and his measurements are 34" waist and 37" chest. He's wearing the Common Coat in size 4.

Shipping & Returns
For most in stock, full priced items, you may return your purchase for a refund, exchange or store credit if we receive the item back in the store within 7 days of delivery. You must request a return authorization within 4 days of delivery. We require that you pay for the return shipping and the shipping fee for the exchanged item.
Shop Boswell uses UPS ground for a $12 flat fee for standard items and $18 for hats and heavier items on orders under $300. If the item is large or unusually heavy, we will reach out to the customer for an additional shipping fee, even if the purchase was over $300.
