PATCHWORK STRIPED PANTS

$360.00
  • Details

Inspired by the streetwear captured by the brilliant Malick Sidibé in post colonial Mali, this jacket is a timeless relaxed fit. We created this stripe fabric by patchworking 100% cutting room waste scraps that we sourced in NYC. The material is utility grade cotton and denim. It features gingham trim, a side slit detail, a slightly cropped length, a belt tunnel for a paperbag waist look, back pocket and wide leg.

The fabric that the clothing is composed of is a combination of vintage pieces sourced from Oklahoma to Maine to NY, deadstock fabric from NY cutting rooms, as well as scraps and remnants collected inside the NY Garment District cutting rooms.

Sarah Nsikak is a Nigerian-American living in Brooklyn, New York. Her love of textiles led her to working in the fashion industry for several years after completing a Masters Degree in Art Therapy. The exorbitant amount of waste generated in the fashion industry inspired a re-routing back to her art practice. These hand quilted pieces are made exclusively using recycled material sourced from fashion designers based in New York. Special textiles are also sourced through vintage stores and estate sales.
